Mission Mate for Pacific Fighter WIP

Postby CrazySchmidt on Sun Dec 12, 2004 7:02 pm

Hi guys,

Here is my first WIP update to let you all know how things are moving along with Mission Mate for Pacific Fighters.

Because of the ever increasing quantity of planes particularly with the merged install I have decided to split the plane and map lists into a choice of:

1) "All" (both AEP and PF plane and map lists).
2) "Ace Expansion" (AEP plane and map lists).
3) "Pacific Fighters" (PF plane and map lists).

There is a drop down list on the main window for the editor (left hand side half way down) and a drop down list in the mission builder interface.

New interface of MM main window.

Mission Mate will support expanded maps for some of the new maps which increase the scope of the quick missions (I'm really enjoying this new bit myself).

Screens showing the stages of scrolling the New Guinea map.

Mission Mate will also include a new waypoint method for carrier fleets. Users will also have the choice to take off and land at either a land base or a carrier base.

In the screen shot below player flight groups are taking off from the carrier to start the mission while the AI teams start in the air. The carrier waypoints are designated by square icons as opposed to round although I think I may improve on this to make the naval waypoints clearly more distinguishable.

Cheers, CrazySchmidt. :)

Uber,

If there is anything you see about Mission Mate that you like but are not quite sure how I have achieved it, please just ask me. I will happily share my knowledge with you. I will email you sample pieces of code if you like.

I know there are many developers who do not want to share their ideas freely but Mission Mate is a free utility and this forum is all about helping each other out. I will gladly share any ideas with any member of this forum.

Cheers, CrazySchmidt. :)

Happy New Year to you also my friend. :D

Mission Mate is coming along well, all the new planes are in and working well, user defined carrier fleet waypoints are in and working well (changed a bit from the original screen shots at the start of this post), take off and landing locations can now be user defined and mixed as the user chooses, you may choose to take off from a carrier but land at a land base for example.

I am including some new features that focus more on naval/carrier activity seeing as how that played a much greater role in the PTO and is more relevant with PF, plus I am allowing the use of a greater portion of the maps with a lot of the PF maps and this takes a bit of extra work. I have also had a few few breaks from developing MM in the last month or so but am now feeling ready to get back into in at full speed.

Cheers, CrazySchmidt. :)

Sounds like it's coming along very nicley!

The NY break is the resting, shame the weather was kind of strange (wet) during the break (well, at least Xmas day was good). I was over in Northland during the break, always good to go home to NZ for Xmas.

Yep, we had bad weather all the time we were away. I'm beginning to wonder if we're going to have a summer this year.
