Headphones

Postby dieg777 on Tue Nov 01, 2005 1:10 pm

I have just received a pair of sennheiser PC130 headphones to use with VAC and for online play. If you are interested in voice commands or chatting online via teamspeak etc then I think that you get some real benifits
from using a pair of headphones with a mike

1) The voice commands work a lot better
2) You dont disturb the wife and kids with noise late at night
3) They add a bit of immersion
4) They can be as good or better sounding than your desktop speakers.
5) I think that comms is essential for online play on some of the full real servers. Especially when you start off as you can get help quickly using this.

I wont go into a full review as most are plug and play with no issues on setting up- but you may want to go to sound and audio devices in the control panel in windows and in speaker settings click advanced then select headphones from dropdown menu in speaker setup.

I chose headphones with a normal 3.5mm jack connector but you can use usb as well. There has been some discussion on the forums whether using a USB will slow down the pc or interfere with existing soundcard -as XP will install it as another sound device but I dont think anything conclusive has been proved and many people prefer this method and have got it to work without any problems.
