WWII Online

I've heard a rumour that some people like to play other games, games that don't involve flying! If you are such a person and would like to confess, please use this forum.

WWII Online

It just went through a major overhaul to version 1.9 and will be coming out in a boxed version at the end of the summer I think. Many many improvments and additions.

This game had a disasterous start but has gradually improved. Considering that the whole thing is being done by a miniscule staff (11 programers I believe) they have done a great job.

Don't get me wrong it still needs many improvements but it is worth another or even a first look. The airwar is totally interactive with the ground and sea war. It is of course an online game. In fact it has the biggest total area to fight in by far. Half scale map of the low countries, parts of France, Germany and England and so far thousands of foes to fight. It needs many many more players so we can get rid of the AI.

There are no "power ups" or magic swords etc. You progress solely on your own skill and leadership abilities. Either you fly well or you don't and you practice to get better. It' up to you. No one can buy rank or special planes etc. It's based on pure skill and team work.

North Africa front will open in less than a year hopefully. These guys have done it probably the only way you could. They have gradually built up the game without going into too much debt and kept their overhead small.

So far you got Hawks, Hurries I and II, Spits V and IX, Blens, Hawks, DeWoos, P-40s, P-38s, bf109e and F, fw190, me110, Stuka, He111, generic transports for Paratroopers, Havocs to fly, AA, ships to bomb, tanks to fry and troops to machine gun or drive a tank, destroyer, stategic bomb, snipe, grenade and cause mayhem for the enemy.

I play Allied so you all have to join as Allied. No more Axis allowed. LOL

Right now the Axis are getting their butt kicked for once. Come and join the fun.

There are no restrictions what so ever where you can fly. Infact, if you want to can you fly from northern France up to Scotland or Norway (1:2 scale of real distances).

Don't fly too low over enemy territory or you will be shot down by players on the ground maning AAA. N00b pilots is often shot down by cunning tankers.

Each country also have its own war industry. Here has the two sides High Command issued producing of new or upgraded armour, fighters et cetera. These facilities can be leveled with bomberplanes. But you have to come in high, at 5000 meter or the heavy FlaK will definitely take you out.

And you better bring a decent fighter escort, or the guys on the other side patroling the air over their factories will take you out.

Spawn in, stay alive for 10 minutes, get a kill and Return to base. Now you have got points for reaching the next rank. The higher rank, the more stuff (not necessarily better) can you spawn.

North Africa will be in scale 1:1, made from satellite pictures with a reselution of 90 meters, and compressed down to 9 meters resolution. With North Africa will Italy and USA be introduced as well. :)

I wouldn't call the Ju52/3m a generic transport. I saw one flying over my hometown two months ago. ;) The British and French airforces will get the C-47/DC-3 later on instead of the Ju52.

You wish Hairog. We were just giving the Allied some slack. Havn't you noticed that the front has been at a stalemate the this whole week. I think it just have started to move slowly westward again. 8)

What and see what will happend with the allies moral when they will encounter PzKpfw IV ausf G and StuG III ausf G which will have a pretty tight air cover from Fw190 by the weekend (unless Bomber Harris men will level the German factories before that  ).

Hi Hairog & Sparre welcome to AW Forums.
WWIIOL is something I have been looking at. Not had much time to play it yet but it may be covered on this website. Either that or Battleground Europe http://www.airwarfare.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=497

You seem to be well informed about the game Sparre, how about helping me build a WWIIOL section?
